What Does an Automobile Radiator Cap Do? Functions Explained
The automobile radiator is a device that relies on the coolant to circulate in various parts of the engine, while emitting heat out during the circulation process.
The radiator coolant inlet is generally tightly covered with a radiator cap, which serves to seal the cooling system and regulate the working pressure inside the cooling system. Existing radiator cap contains outlet valve and inlet valve, when the engine is working, the temperature of the coolant gradually increases, the coolant volume expansion caused by the cooling system internal pressure increases. When the pressure exceeds a predetermined value, the pressure valve opens to allow part of the coolant to flow into the compensation bucket to prevent the radiator from expanding and cracking due to excessive pressure. When the pressure drops below atmospheric pressure and a vacuum occurs, the inlet valve opens and part of the coolant in the compensation bucket flows back to the radiator to prevent the radiator from being crushed by atmospheric pressure.
